Surah Luqman is the 31st surah of the Holy Quran. It is a special surah in itself. Well, all the surahs of the Holy Quran are special, but there are endless benefits of reading Surah Luqman. Surah Luqman gives us a chance to learn a lot about life, it teaches us how to do good deeds in difficult times of life and it mentions a man named Luqman.  Who is a very thrifty person. Luqman is a man who is a supreme example of wisdom. So we all Muslims should recite Surah Luqman daily and get its many benefits.

Surah Al Luqman English Translation

1. Alif laam Meem
2. These are the verses of the (full) Book of Wisdom.
3.  There is guidance and mercy for the righteous.
4. Those who observe prayer and give alms and believe in the Hereafter.
5. These are the ones who are guided by their Lord and these are the ones who will be saved.
6.  And there are some among the people who buy absurd stories in order to mislead (the people) from the path of God without understanding and mock Him. These are the people who will have a humiliating chastisement.
7. And when Our verses are recited to him, he stubbornly turns his face away as if he had not heard them, as if there is a weight in his ears, so tell him the glad tidings of a painful punishment.
8. For those who believe and do good deeds, there are Gardens of Bliss.
9. Will always be in them.  God’s promise is true and He is All-Wise.
10. It is He who created the heavens without pillars as you see, and placed mountains on the earth so that it would not shake you, and spread in it every kind of animal.  And We sent down water from the heavens, then (from it) brought forth in it all kinds of exquisite things.
11. This is the birth of God, so show me what people besides God have created?  The fact is that these wrongdoers are clearly misguided.
12. And We gave Luqman wisdom.  Thank God.  And whoever gives thanks gives thanks for his own benefit.  And whoever is ungrateful, God is careless and worthy of praise.
13. And (remember that time) when Luqman admonished his son, saying, “Son, do not associate partners with God.”  Shirk is a great injustice.
14. And We have made the man whom his mother bears in her womb suffering pain after pain (then breastfeeds him) and (finally) weans him in two years (as well as himself) about his parents.  I have emphasized that you should keep thanking me and your parents too (that you should return to me only).
15. And if they ask you to associate with me something that you have no knowledge of, then do not listen to them.  Yes, supporting them well in the worldly affairs and following the path of those who turn to Me, then you must return to Me.  So I will make you aware of everything you do.
16.  (Luqman also said) Son, if a deed is (obligatory) even (small) like a grain of rye and it is (hidden) inside a stone or in the heavens or in the earth.  God will annihilate him on the Day of Resurrection.  There is no doubt that God is all-seeing (and) aware. 
17. Son, observe prayer and enjoin (people) to do good deeds and forbid evil things and be patient in whatever calamity befalls you.  Indeed, these are deeds of great courage. 
18. And (out of pride) not to be rude to people and not to walk arrogantly on the ground.  That God does not like a self-deprecating self-righteous person.
19. And be moderate in your behavior and keep your voice low (while speaking) because (the loudest voice is that of donkeys and there is no doubt that) the worst voice of all voices is that of donkeys.
20. Have you not seen that God has brought under your control all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth and has fulfilled His outward and inward blessings upon you?  And there are some people who dispute about God and have no knowledge and no guidance and no illuminated book.
21. And when it is said to them: Follow what (the Book) God has revealed.  So they say that we will follow that which our fathers found.  Well, even if Satan calls them to the punishment of Hell (even then?)
22. And whoever obeys God towards him and is also righteous, he has taken a strong document in his hand.  And the end of (all) works is towards God alone.
23. And whoever disbelieves, let not his disbelief grieve you; they must return to Us, then We will show them what they used to do.  Verily, God knows what is in the hearts. 
24. We will give them a little benefit, then We will force them to a severe punishment.
25.  And if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will say that God.  Say: Thanks be to God, but most of them do not understand. (25)
26. All that is in the heavens and the earth belongs to God.  Verily, God is Heedless and Punisher of Praise (Wasthana).
27. And if it were so that all the trees on the earth were pens and the sea (all the water of the sea) was ink (and) after that seven seas (became black), then God’s words (i.e. His attributes)  Don’t run out.  Verily, God is All-Wise.
28. Your creation and destruction (of God) is like (the creation and destruction of) a person.  Indeed, God is the Hearer, the Seer.
29. Have you not seen that it is God who causes the night to enter the day and (He) causes the day to enter into the night, and He has made the sun and the moon subservient (to you).  Each one lasts for an appointed time, and that God is aware of all your deeds.
30. This is because the Self of God is true, and those whom these people invoke besides God are vain, and that God alone is the Most High and the Greatest.
31. Have you not seen that by the grace of God the boats move in the river?  That He may show you some of His signs.  Verily, therein are signs for every patient (and) grateful person.
32. And when the waves (of the river) cover them like canopies, then they call upon God (and) worship Him sincerely, then when He saves them and brings them to the dry land, then some of them stick to justice.  .  And those who deny Our signs are those who break the covenant and are ungrateful.
33. O people, fear your Lord and be afraid of the Day when the father will not benefit his son.  And neither the son could do anything to the father.  Surely the promise of God is true, so do not let the life of this world deceive you.  And let not the deceiver (Satan) deceive you in any way about God.
34. Only God knows the Day of Judgment and He sends rain.  And He knows the contents of (the pregnant woman’s) womb (whether male or female) and no one knows what she will do tomorrow.  And no soul knows in which land death will befall him. Indeed, God is All-Knowing (and) Aware.)
