Surah Az Zumar English Translation
- The revelation of this book is from God, the Mighty (and) the Wise.
- (O Prophet) We have revealed this Book to you with the truth, so worship God (i.e.) purifying His worship (from polytheism).
- Behold, pure worship is for God (is beautiful) and those who have made friends besides Him. (They say) We worship them because they bring us closer to God. So God will judge them in the matters in which they differ. Indeed, God does not guide a person who is a liar and ungrateful.
- If God wanted someone to be his son, he would have chosen anyone from among his creatures. Pure is He, God is One (and) Mighty.
- He has created the heavens and the earth with design. (And) It is He who wraps the night over the day and wraps the day over the night, and it is He who has kept the sun and the moon together. All will continue for a specified time. Behold, He is the Mighty (and) Forgiving.
- It is He who created you from a single person, then made a pair out of it, and He made for you eight pairs of four legs. It is He who creates you in the wombs of your mothers (first) in one way and then in the other in the three darknesses. This God is your Lord and His is the kingdom. There is no god but Him, then where do you go?
If you are ungrateful, God is indifferent to you. And He does not like ingratitude for His servants, and if you are thankful, He will like it for you. And no bearer shall bear another’s burden. Then you must return to your Lord. Then he will tell you what you keep doing. He knows even the hidden things of the hearts.
- And when a person suffers, he calls upon his Lord (and) turns his heart to Him. Then when He bestows on him a blessing from Himself, he forgets the work for which He had first called him and starts associating with God in order to mislead (people) from His path. Say that (O infidel blessing) take a little advantage of your ingratitude. Then you will be among the people of Hell.
- When one is touched with hardship, they cry out to their Lord, turning to Him ˹alone˺. But as soon as He showers them with blessings from Him, they ˹totally˺ forget the One they had cried to earlier, and set up equals to Allah to mislead ˹others˺ from His Way. Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Enjoy your disbelief for a little while! You will certainly be one of the inmates of the Fire.”
- (The good polytheist is good) or he who worships standing with his forehead on the ground at night and fears the Hereafter and hopes for the mercy of his Lord. Tell me, can those who have knowledge and those who don’t have both be equal? (And) only those who are wise take counsel.
- Say: O my servants who have believed, fear your Lord. Those who have good deeds in this world are good for them. And God’s land is spacious. Those who are patient will get many rewards.
- Say that I have been told to purify the worship of God and worship Him.
- And it has also been said that I should be the first to become a Muslim.
- Say, “If I disobey the command of my Lord, I fear the punishment of the Great Day.”
- Say: I purify my religion (from polytheism) and worship it.
- So worship whomever you will besides Him. Say that the losers are the ones who put themselves and their families in harm’s way on the Day of Resurrection. See, this is a clear loss.
- Above them will be canopies of fire and below (its) floors. This is the (punishment) with which God warns His servants. So, O my servants, be afraid of me.
- And for those who avoided idols and turned to God, there is glad tidings. So give glad tidings to my servants.
- Those who listen to the word and follow what is good. These are the people whom God has guided and these are the wise
- Well, the person on whom the order of punishment has been issued. So will you be able to give salvation to (such a) hell-bound person?
- But for those who fear their Lord, there are lofty palaces with lofts built above them. (And) rivers flow beneath them. (This) is God’s promise. God does not go against a promise.
- Have you not seen that God sends down water from the sky, then releases it into the earth as springs, then grows crops with different colors from it? Then it dries up and you see it (that) yellow (it has become) then it crumbles. Verily, therein is admonition for those of understanding.
- Well, the person whose chest has been opened by God for Islam and he is on the light from his Lord (can he have a hard heart like the disbeliever) then woe to those whose hearts are hardened by the remembrance of God. are And these are the people who are clearly in error.
- God has sent down very good things (i.e.) the Book (whose verses are similar (to each other) and repeated (are) those who fear their Lord, their bodies crawl (from it). Then their bodies and hearts (become soft) towards the remembrance of God. This is the guidance of God, He guides whom He wills. And whoever God leads astray, there is no one to guide him.
- Good is the person who prevents the evil punishment from his mouth on the Day of Resurrection (can he be like what happened in China) and the wrongdoers will be told, “Taste the pleasures of what you used to do.”
- Those who were before them also disbelieved, so the chastisement came upon them from a place that they did not know.
- Then God gave them a taste of disgrace in the life of this world. And the punishment of the Hereafter is very great. I wish they understood this.
- And We have mentioned all kinds of examples in this Qur’an for the people (to understand) so that they may be admonished.
- (This is) an Arabic Qur’an in which there is no fault (and no difference) so that they may fear.
- God narrates a parable that there is one person in whom many (man) share. (Various temperaments and) ill-natured and a man is (slave) to a particular person. Well, the condition of both is equal. (No) Alhamdulillah, but most people do not know this.
- (O Prophet) You will also die and these will also die
- Then you will all dispute before your Lord on the Day of Resurrection (and the dispute will be settled).
- So who is more unjust than he who lies about God and denies the truth when it reaches him? Isn’t there an abode of unbelievers in hell?
- And whoever brought the truth and confirmed it, those are the pious people.
- Their Lord has for them what they will. This is the reward of the righteous.
- So that God may remove from them the evil deeds they have done and reward them for the good deeds they continue to do.
- Is God not enough for his servants? And they make you afraid of those who are besides Him. And whoever God leads astray, there is no one to guide him.
- And whomever God guides, there is no one who can mislead. Is God not Mighty (and) Avenging?
- And if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, say: God. Say: Look well, those whom you call upon besides God. If God wants to hurt me, can He remove that pain or if He wants to be kind to me, can He stop His kindness? Say that God is enough for me. Trustees trust in Him
- Say, O people, act in your own place, I will act (in my place). Soon you will know.
- Who will be punished who will disgrace him? And upon whom is the eternal punishment revealed.
- We have sent down to you the Book with truth for the guidance of the people. So whoever gets guidance, it is for his own (good) and whoever goes astray, he harms himself by going astray. And (O Prophet) you are not responsible for them.
- God seizes the souls of people when they die, and those who are not dead (souls) while they are sleeping, then He holds back those whom He has ordered to die, and the rest of the souls until an appointed time. leaves for There are signs in it for those who worry.
- Have they made intercessors other than God? Say that even if they do not have authority over anything and do not understand (anything).
- Say that all intercession is in the power of God. To Him belongs the kingdom of heaven and earth. Then you will return to Him.
- And when God Alone is mentioned, the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter shrink. And when others besides him are mentioned, they become happy.
- Say: O God (O) the Creator of the heavens and the earth (and) the Knower of the hidden and the visible, He alone will decide between His servants those matters in which they have been disputing.
- And if the wrongdoers have all that is in the earth, and there is something else of equal value with it, then on the Day of Resurrection, give it in exchange for the evil punishment. And that will be revealed to them from God which they did not even think about.
- And the evils of their deeds will be revealed to them, and that which they used to laugh at will overtake them.
- When a person is hurt, we start crying. Then when We bless him from Our side, he says that I have received this because of (my) knowledge (vidansh). (No) Rather, it is a trial, but most of them do not know.
- Those who were before them also used to say the same thing, so whatever they did, nothing worked for them.
- They were plagued by their actions. And those among them who have been doing wrong will soon be punished for their deeds. And they cannot humble (God).
- Don’t they know that God bestows sustenance on whomever He wills and restricts it (for whomever He wills)? There are (many) signs in it for those who believe.
- Say (O Prophet to the people on my behalf): O my servants who have transgressed against their lives, do not despair of God’s mercy. God forgives all sins. (And) He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.
- And before the punishment befalls you, turn to your Lord and obey Him, then you will not be helped.
- And before a sudden punishment comes upon you and you do not even know, follow this excellent (Book) which has been revealed to you from your Lord.
- That (lest at that time) someone would say: (Alas, alas) I am sorry for the fault I have committed against God, and I kept laughing.
- Or they said, “If God had guided me, I would have been among the pious.”
- Or when he saw the punishment, he said, “If I have to go to this world again, I should be among the righteous.”
- God will say) Why did not My revelations reach you but you denied them and became arrogant and became a disbeliever?
- And those who lied against God, you will see on the Day of Resurrection that their faces will be black. Is not the abode of the proud in Hell?
- And those who are pious, because of (happiness and) success, God will deliver them, neither will they suffer hardship, nor will they be sad.
- God is the creator of all things. And He is the Overseer of all things
- He has the keys of the heavens and the earth. And those who disbelieved in the revelations of God, it is they who will bear the loss.
- Say, O ignorant! You tell me to start worshiping other than God.
- And this revelation has been sent to you (O Muhammad, peace be upon him) and to those (prophets) who came before you. That if you commit polytheism, your deeds will be wasted and you will be among the wrongdoers.
- Rather, worship God and be among the grateful.
- And they did not appreciate God as they should have done. And on the Day of Resurrection, all the earth will be in his hand and the heavens will be wrapped in his right hand. (And) He is free from the polytheism of these people and exalted.
- And when the trumpet is blown, all who are in the heavens and those who are on the earth will faint, except those whom God wills. Then, when it is blown a second time, immediately everyone will stand and watch.
- And the earth will be illuminated by the light of its Lord, and the Book (of deeds) will be (opened) and prophets and (and) witnesses will be brought forth, and they will be judged with justice and no injustice will be done.
- And the person who has done what he has done will be fully repaid for it, and everyone knows what they do.
- And the disbelievers will be led to hell in groups. Until when they reach it, its doors will be opened, and its doctors will say to them: “Didn’t there come to you a prophet from among yourselves who recited to you the verses of your Lord?” And they used to warn about the occurrence of that day, saying why not, but the decree of punishment for the disbelievers had already been fulfilled.
- It will be said that enter the gates of hell and you will stay in it forever. An evil abode is for the arrogant.
- And those who fear their Lord will be led to Paradise in groups, until when they reach it and its gates will be opened, then its messengers will say to them: Peace be upon you. Have a great one. Now enter into it forever.
- They will say, “Thanks be to God who fulfilled His promise to us and made us inheritors of this land. We can live in Paradise in any house we want. How good is the reward of those who do (good) deeds.”
- You will see the angels surrounding the Throne (and) praising their Lord. And they will be judged with justice and it will be said that all praise is due to God, the Lord of all the worlds.
