Full Surah Al Mujadila Read Online

Surah Mujadila is the 58th Surah of the Holy Quran. This Surah was revealed in Medina. The surah also addresses many social and legal issues. It has solutions to many problems. In this surah, the rights of women are particularly addressed.  Named after the one who sought help from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in a personal dispute with her husband. In this Surah, the importance of communication with Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and many other disputes are resolved.

Surat Al Mujadilah English Translation

1. (O Prophet) The woman who used to argue with you about her husband and complain to God.  God heard his plea and God was listening to your conversation.  There is no doubt that God hears and sees.
2. Those among you who call their women mothers are not their mothers. Their mothers are the ones from whose wombs they were born. Verily, they speak unreasonable and false things, and God is Oft-Forgiving (and) Forgiving.
3. And those who call their wives mothers and then go back on their word, then (they) must free a slave before they go to bed. (Believers) You are admonished by this (order). And God is aware of what you do.
4. He who does not get slaves should fast for two consecutive months before the meeting. This (order) is so that you obey God and His Messenger. And these are the limits of God. And for those who do not believe, there is a painful punishment. 
5. Those who oppose God and His Messenger will be humiliated (in the same way) as those before them were humiliated, and We have sent down clear and unequivocal verses. Those who do not believe will be punished with humiliation.
6. On the day God will burn them all, He will reward them for what they did. God remembers all those (deeds) and He has forgotten them, and God is Aware of all things.
7. Do you not know that God knows all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth? (In a place) three (persons) do not (meet and) consult in the ears, but he is the fourth among them, and not five, but he is the sixth among them, and neither less nor more than him, but he is with them. It happens wherever they are. Then those who have been doing these things on the Day of Resurrection, He will tell them (one by one). Indeed, God is aware of everything.
8. Have you not seen those who were forbidden to whisper? Then they began to do what was forbidden, and they whisper about sin and injustice and disobedience to the Messenger (of God). And when they come to you, they make supplication to you with that which God has not made supplication to you. And they say in their hearts that (if they are indeed prophets) why does God not punish us for what we say? (O Prophet) Hellfire is enough for them. It will enter the same.  And that is an evil place.
9. Believers! When you start whispering among yourselves, do not talk about sin and transgression and disobedience to the Prophet, but talk about goodness and piety. And fear God before whom you will be gathered.
10. (The disbelievers’) whispers are from (the movements of) Satan (which are) (done) so that the believers are saddened (by them), but nothing can harm them except by the command of God. So the believers should put their trust in God alone.
11. Believers!  When you are asked to sit openly in the assembly, do so.  God will give you openness. And when you are told to stand up, stand up. Those of you who have believed and who have been given knowledge, God will raise them up.  And God is aware of all your deeds
12. Believers!  When you speak something in the Prophet’s ear, give some charity (to the poor) before speaking.  This is much better and purer for you. And if charity is not available to you, then God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
13. Are you afraid to give alms before saying anything in the Prophet’s ear? Then when you did not do (this) and God forgave you, continue to pray and give alms and obey God and His Messenger.  And God is aware of what you do.
14. Have you not seen those people who befriend those on whom the wrath of God has come? They are neither in you nor in them. And they deliberately swear on falsehoods.
15. God has prepared a severe punishment for them. What they do is certainly bad.
16. They have made their oaths a shield and prevented (people) from the path of God, so for them is the punishment of humiliation.
17. Neither their wealth nor their offspring will be of any use to God.  These people are the people of Hellfire and will remain (burning) in it forever.
18. On the day God will burn them all, they will swear by God just as they used to swear before you, and they will think that they have accomplished their work.  Behold, they are liars (and false)
19. Satan has taken control of them.  And they have forgotten the remembrance of God. This (Jamaat) is Satan’s army. And hear that Satan’s army is going to suffer losses.
20. Those who oppose God and His Messenger will be greatly humiliated.
21. God’s command is clear that I and my messenger will prevail.  Verily God is Mighty (and) Mighty.
22. You will not see those who believe in God and the Last Day making friends with the enemies of God and His Messenger.  Be it their father or son or brother or family members. These are the people in whose hearts God has written faith (like a line on stone) and helped them from the unseen. And He will admit them into Gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. God is pleased with them and they are pleased with God. This group is God’s army.  (And) hear that God’s army is the one who achieves the purpose.
