Surat e Jathiya English Translation
- Ḥâ-Mĩm.
- The revelation of this book is from God, the All-Mighty (and) All-Wise.
- Indeed, there are signs (of God’s power) for those who believe in the heavens and the earth.
- And also in your birth. And in the animals which He spreads are signs for those who believe.
- And in the going back and forth of the night and the day, and that which God sent down from the sky (as a source of sustenance), then revived the earth with it after it had died, and in the change of the winds are signs for those of understanding.
- These are the verses of God that we recite to you with truth. So what will they believe in after God and His verses?
- Woe to every false sinner.
- (That) God’s verses are recited to him, so he listens to them (but) then he stubbornly insists that he has not heard them. So tell such a person the glad tidings of a painful punishment.
- And when some of our verses are known to him, he makes them laugh. For such people is a humiliating punishment.
- Hell is in front of them. And whatever they do will not work for them. And not those whom they had taken as gods besides God. And for them is a great punishment.
- This is (the book of) guidance. And those who deny the revelations of their Lord will have a painful chastisement.
- It is God Who has controlled the river for you, so that by His command the boats may move in it, and that you may seek (earnings) from His bounty, and that you may give thanks.
- And He made all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth work for you by His command. There are signs in it (of God’s power) for those who reflect.
- Tell the believers to forgive those who do not look forward to the Days of God. So that He will recompense these people for their deeds.
- Whoever does a good deed, then for himself. And the one who does bad deeds will be harmed by them. Then you will return to your Lord.
- And We gave the children of Israel the Book (guidance) and government and prophethood, and gave them pure things, and gave them superiority over the people of the world.
- And gave them arguments about religion. So what they disagreed with, after getting the knowledge, they did it against each other. Indeed, your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection those matters in which they differed.(17)
- Then We (established) you on the open path of religion, so follow it (the path) and do not follow the desires of the ignorant.
- These will be of no use to you before God. And cruel people are friends of each other. And God is the friend of the pious.
- This Qur’an is words of wisdom for people and guidance and mercy for those who believe.
- Do those who do evil think that We will make them like those who believe and do righteous deeds, and their life and death will be the same. What they claim is bad.
- And God has created the heavens and the earth with wisdom and so that everyone will be rewarded for their deeds and they will not be wronged.
- Have you seen the person who has made his desire a god, and despite knowing (that he is going astray), God (also) misled him and sealed his ears and heart and his Covered the eyes. Now who can guide him except God. Why don’t you take advice?
- And they say that our life is only of the world, that we die and live (here) and time kills us. And they have no knowledge of it. They act only on suspicion.
- And when our clear verses are recited before them, they have this argument: If you are truthful, bring our fathers (back to life).
- Say: It is God who gives you life, then He gives you death, then He will gather you together on the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt, but many people do not know.
- And to God belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. And on the Day of Judgment, on that day the people of falsehood will be at a loss.
- And you will see every sect sitting on its knees. And each party will be called to its Book (Acts). Whatever you have been doing, today you will be rewarded for it.
- This book of ours will tell the truth about you. We write down what you used to do.
- So those who believe and do good deeds, their Lord will admit them to the Garden of Mercy. This is clear success.
- And those who disbelieved. (It will be said to them) Weren’t our verses recited to you? Then you became arrogant and you were disobedient people.
- And when it was said that God’s promise is true and there is no doubt about the Day of Resurrection, you used to say, “We do not know what the Day of Resurrection is.” We consider it as mere suspicion and we do not believe it.
- And the evils of their deeds will be revealed to them, and that (punishment) which they used to laugh at will overtake them.
- And it will be said that just as you forgot the coming of this day. Likewise, today We will forget you, and your abode will be Hell, and there will be no helper for you.
- This is because you have ignored the revelations of God and the life of the world has deceived you. So today, these people will not be taken out of Hell, nor will their repentance be accepted.
- Therefore, all praise is due to God, who is the Lord of the heavens and the Lord of the earth and the Lord of all the worlds.
- And to Him is glory in the heavens and the earth. And He is Mighty and Wise.
