Surat Al Dukhan English Translation

1. Ḥâ-Mĩm.
2. By this book Roshan 
3. That We sent it down in the blessed night, We are the ones who show the way
4. In this night, all matters of wisdom are decided.
5. (i.e.) by order from Us.  Verily it is We who send (the Prophet)
6. (This) is the mercy of your Lord.  He is the Hearer, the Knower.
7. Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is in them.  Provided that you are believers.
8. There is no god but Him.  (He) burns and (He) kills.  He is your Lord and the Lord of your fathers.
9. But these people are playing in doubt
10. So wait for the day when clear smoke will emerge from the sky.
11. Which will be overshadowed by the people.  This is a painful punishment.
12. O Lord, remove this punishment from us and we believe.
13. (At that time) where will the advice be of use to them when there comes to them a prophet who explains openly
14. Then they turned away from them and said (this is) learned (and) mad.
15. We postpone the punishment for a few days (but) you start disbelieving again.
16. On the Day when We shall hold fast, We shall surely release them with vengeance.
17. And before them We tested the people of Pharaoh, and there came to them a noble Messenger.
18. (Those who) said, “Hand over the servants of God (i.e. the Israelites) to me. I am your trusted messenger.”
19. And do not disobey God.  I have come to you with a clear argument.
20. And I seek refuge in you and your Lord from stoning me.
21. And if you do not believe in me, then separate from me.
22. Then Musa prayed to his Lord that these are disobedient people.
23. (God said) Take My servants away by night and (Pharaoh) will surely pursue you.
24. And cross over the river (that will be) dry (after you) and all their army will be drowned.
25. Those people left many gardens and springs.
26. And farms and fine houses
27. And the things of comfort in which they used to luxuriate.
28. Likewise (it happened) and We made other people the owners of these things.
29. Then neither the heavens nor the earth cried over them, nor was they given respite.
30. And We delivered the children of Israel from the punishment of humiliation.
31. (i.e.) from Pharaoh.  Indeed, he was rebellious (and) out of bounds.
32. And We chose the children of Israel deliberately from among the people of the world.
33. And He gave them signs in which there was a clear trial.
34. These people say:
35. That we have to die only for the first time (i.e. once) and not (again) rise.
36. So if you are truthful, then bring our fathers back (to life).
37. Are they good, or the people of Tuba and those who came before you?  We killed them (all).  Indeed, they were sinners.
38. And We did not create the heavens and the earth and all that is in them in play.
39. We have created them deliberately, but most people do not know.
40. There is no doubt that the Day of Judgment is the time for all of them.
41. On the Day when a friend will not be of any use to a friend, nor will they be helped.
42. But God willing.  He is Mighty and Merciful.
43. Undoubtedly, the tree of Thuhar.
44. It is the food of the sinner.
45. Like molten copper. (Thus) will open the bellies.
46. As hot water boils 
47. (It will be ordered that) take hold of him and drag him to the center of Hellfire.
48. Then pour boiling water on his head.
49. (Now) taste the fun.  So he is the most respected (and) the leader.
50. This is the (hell) in which you used to doubt.
51. Indeed, the pious will be in a place of peace.
52. (i.e.) in gardens and fountains.
53. They will be sitting in front of each other wearing fine and colorful silk clothes.
54. Such (will be the case) and We will mate them with white women with large eyes.
55. There they will order (and eat) all kinds of fruits from the sake collection.
56. (And) they will not taste death except after dying for the first time.  And God will save them from the punishment of Hell.
57. This is the grace of your Lord.  This is a great success.
58. We have made it (the Qur’an) easy for you in your language, so that these people may be admonished.
59. So wait, they are also waiting.
